Professional Qualifications

Alec Story has been active in buying, selling, and appraising manufacturing and industrial equipment for over 24 years. His work experience includes managing every aspect of selling, removing, shipping, and delivering a single lathe to the entire contents of multi-million square foot manufacturing plants. He has done this for Manufacturers throughout North America as well as Western Europe.

Alec’s key areas of expertise are chip making, fabrication, and forging operations and will be the Honorary Presenter at the American Society of Appraisers 2018 International Appraisers Conference in Anaheim discussing a general overview of inspecting machine tools including what to inspect, what to expect, and what components are important to identify.

Alec’s experience remains Surplus Asset Management where his clients seek his knowledge to understand the current market to make informed decisions about assets being sold, transferred, or kept for future operations. He has worked with Caterpillar, Siemens, General Electric, Dresser-Rand, and Harley Davidson.

Alec is based in Houston, Texas but travels extensively to provide values for machines and assets as far away as China, Indonesia, and Australia.

Alec graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science as an adult non-traditional student while working full time. He has served on his local zoning board, as well as volunteered for St Jude, Easter Seals, Ducks Unlimited, and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation charities. Richard has completed all required Principle of Valuation Courses from the American Society of Appraisers for accreditation.
